góður dagur

Good day, friends! Austin and I leave for Iceland tomorrow morning and we are beyond excited. We are finishing up the packing and checklist today. I know we'll forget something because we always do, but hopefully whatever we forget isn't something of great importance. I'll be sure to post some photos to Facebook and Instagram when I can get wifi over in Iceland. And of course I'll have a travel post (or several) when we return. Bless!

A couple of places we will be visiting: Gullfoss and Reykjavik.

saturday in downtown dallas

A couple of weekends ago Austin and I were able to take a Saturday to visit some great sites in downtown Dallas. We visited the large, kid-friendly, food-truck haven Klyde Warren Park. We trekked through the new, interactive, cram-packed Perot Museum of Nature & Science. We toured the (free!) Crow Collection of Asian Art that seems to be expanding. And last but not least, we enjoyed the modern pieces of art at the Nasher Sculpture Center. The Nasher Sculpture Center was hosting a special exhibit from Katharina Grosse that I particularly enjoyed. Slip on shoe covers and enter the work made of dirt, rubble, dust, and paint!

We also enjoyed the outdoor area. These headless figures were intriguingly creepy:

And this amalgamation of metal was so cool! Only at a certain angle could you see the shape of a human body in the sculpture:

The center also had a kick-ass gift shop with some great tunes I shazamed, but I saved my dollars as most items were a little pricey even though they were super cool.

I truly enjoyed all of these visits, but I recommend not visiting the Perot Museum on a Saturday - it was like an endless sea of children running and playing on all of the exhibits. Perhaps a weekday would have been better!  Have you made any interesting trips or visits lately?

I'm a luna

Have you ever taken the Meyers Briggs test to find out your personality type?  I'm a solid INFP. That stands for:

Quite fitting I think. Austin actually got the opposite type: ESTJ which stands for:
I suppose it's true that opposites attract! I was reading about my type online and I discovered that I'm internally focused, successful at writing, thoughtful and considerate, flexible and laid-back unless values are challenged, interested in the human condition, and I avoid conflict at all costs. Interesting! I also discovered that the Harry Potter INFP character was Luna Lovegood. I can handle that :)

If you're interested in taking the test check it out here! Or you can try this Via Me personality profile that was also interestingly accurate for both myself and Austin. My top 5 character strengths happened to be:

Appreciation of Beauty & Excellence
Love of Learning

Even more interestingly, the most unlike me character trait was Self-Regulation. Perhaps that explains why I can't turn down a cupcake and I don't remember the last time I made it to the gym...

go where the people dance

what do you think? I revamped my blog a bit with a new header and some other minor changes. I'm liking it. The only thing I'm not so sure about is the muted gray color scheme. Is it too melancholy of a theme to go with for a non-melancholy blog? Any color suggestions? I may get sick of this color scheme before long so be prepared for a drastic change at any moment!

I would now like to stop and give a shout out to the awesome website Pic Monkey. It was fairly simple to create a new custom header for my blog with their (free!) tools. How did I not know this existed until now? The internet is a glorious thing...

One other new thing is my blog subtitle. I can't seem to find a person to cite for that quote, but I do love it. I discovered it on Pinterest (of course) and was also considering these wise sayings for my subtitle:

They're all wonderful, but I do like to go where people dance...

iceland, here we come

In less than one month Austin and I will be experienced Icelandic travelers. How exciting! I'm ready for green landscapes, countless waterfalls, beautiful horses, 20 hours of daylight, and whale watching in the north atlantic. July 1st can't come soon enough.

In other news, also in less than one month I will have my blog revamped with a fresh look and fresh posts. I'm trying out some looks before I make a committed change. I can't believe I didn't post a single time in May! Shameful. But one of my new years resolutions was to revamp my blog by July and post more frequently. I shall conquer my resolutions!
Stay tuned...
