So I know it is supposedly a wedding shop, but they have so many things that would be nice for things other than weddings! And just because I'm already married doesn't mean I don't love to oogle over gorgeous dresses.

(a bit late!)
So my mom's birthday is April 20th - always near Easter. Long ago we started an odd tradition of using peeps for her birthday cake (back when you could only get them at Easter time). Long story short- my grandma had nothing to decorate her plain, boring cake with... she had some peeps for Easter... so she plopped them on. It was pretty funny.
Each year my mom's sister makes up a theme for Peep Day- this year it was Egyptian! Check it out (notice the protestors):
After we divided the leftovers to be sent home with family, my hubby and my brother decided to eat frosting-topped peeps. It was rather disgusting!
It was a fun day - lots of fam + lots of cake!

Lately I've had a LOT of energy. It has been wonderful! I think I'm getting excited because in about a month or so my schedule will let up quite a bit- dance studio recitals over, perpetual motion concert nearly over, and vacation time! And Austin found a summer job to work until we move to TX (so that is a big stress relief).
Anyway, I've been SUPER productive- its crazy! All the laundry is clean (ok, except what we wore from yesterday evening to today), dishes are done, I've been taking Ponce on daily walks (even on my 12-hour work days), I've had energy at evening rehearsals and I've been on a baking rampage!
For today's work potluck I made chocolate chip bars. Mmmm.
variation: add smooth peanut butter to the batter, use mini chocolate chips
Luckily along with all of this baking I've been doing lots of dancing. I've mentioned this company before because a guy I danced with in college is in it... I still want to see a performance some day, I've only seen rehearsal video! Are these photos not amazing!?
(Dillon that I danced with is the blonde on the left!)

Lots of things have been getting ready for spring around here.
Ponce got a summer haircut today:
I watered the flowers I planted this week:
And I made some of my mom's chocolate brownies from scratch:
Melt 1/2 C butter & 2 one-ounce squares of unsweet chocolate.
Add 1 C sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, 3/4 C flour.
Grease 8x8" pan (or a rectangular pan if doubling recipe).
Pour mixture into pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.
mix powdered sugar, milk, cocoa to desired taste/consistency.
Other exciting things...
here is Austin's graduation announcement (made by Michael King):
Zoe has been awful snuzzly lately:
Ponce has been trying to tear into elephant's brains (luckily elephant is very resilient... looks quite unscathed!):
a look at my super-organized magazine archive (I'm very proud of this...):
martha stewart, real simple, and whole living grouped by month. dance & pointe arranged chronologically.
In other springy news, I really wish I lived near an Anthro for this reason:
And I need to keep this in mind right about now (via stay fancy free):
Now off to get ready for a Perpetual Motion performance tonight in a burlusque-themed food pantry fundraiser for the city. This should be interesting...

Friday night Austin and I drove up to Ponca City to visit family over the weekend... we got there just in time for some crazy thunderstorms, including 100mph wind, some hail, and a tornado warning (we were in the closet for a while!)... did a lot of damage around town. We were without power for over 12 hours... got hot! Several buildings on the west side of town were destroyed from the winds, and my mother-in-law's house had shingles taken off of it. Whew! Glad it wasn't worse.
Other than that it was a nice weekend! Visited my parents, Aust's mom, my aunt Maggie & uncle Larry, and of course my parent's cat Feisty :)
Today I had rehearsal, did laundry, cataloged old magazines, planted flowers in the backyard planters, washed dishes, cooked dinner for Aust, Alex, & Anna, and made these delicious gluten-free Pamela's cookies for dessert (thanks to Maggie & Larry for the recommendation):
In my spare time lately I've been stressing about moving. I haven't officially blogged about this... but I officially sent in my acceptance offer from Texas Woman's University! It just made sense: more scholarship/out-of-state tuition waiver, closer to family & friends, cheaper and easier to move, and more job opportunities for Austin. I would have loved to have lived in Brockport... it was so beautiful there and I've always really wanted to live in a place outside of this region... people just seem a little more open-minded elsewhere, but I know Texas will be great (although politically I may be in the minority... what's new!?)... Only problems are we don't know what suburb of Dallas we'll live in, where Austin will work, or what month we're moving... ahhh! Hopefully everything falls into place soon.

After a nice long streak of non-sickness, it has hit me again. I'm home from work today (obviously) with a sore throat, slight fever, and a congested/aching head. I've got a doc appointment soon. Lets hope this passes quickly!
Since I've been sleeping most of the morning I decided to take a break and do something fun. Like blogging!
First of all, I must tell you about this delicious-smelling, creamy face wash I got a free sample of from Sephora. It literally leaves my face squeaky clean! ... I may have to buy the real thing:
Benefit Cosmetics' foamingly clean facial wash
And lately I've been really liking the white & wood home look. Not that I'm going to have my own house custom built or anything, but it is nice to look at pretty things and get some inspiration for decor!

It's April! Wow.
I'm looking forward to my family trip to the beach at the end of May. I've been searching for swim suits and a white swim skirt (my old one got torn). Here are my findings:
I think the 2nd or last would be most flattering on me ...
And these might be nice additions to a beach vacation (though I'm just dreaming... I'll actually be losing income while vacationing, so I probably shouldn't spend more money on things for vacation...)
